Wireless Networking On Campus
Visit the WiFi section of the knowledge base for detailed information on wireless connectivity on campus.
Key information for connecting to and utilizing the wireless networks on campus:
- SVA community members with valid myID credentials, please install the secure wireless networking certificate on your device prior to arriving on campus by visiting wifi.sva.edu and following the installation instructions.
- If you use a VPN for security purposes, please turn it off when on campus in order to access campus resources. VPNs often prevent connectivity to local network resources on campus.
- Wireless Networks:
-
SVA Secure WiFi - available in all campus buildings; only visible once the secure 802.1X certificate is installed on your device via wifi.sva.edu; fastest, most secure network
-
SVA Guest WiFi - available in all campus buildings; temporary 24-hour access for guests or longer-term employee-sponsored access; standard throughput speeds; accessible via credentials obtained via registration at guestwifi.sva.edu
-
SVA IOT - available in all SVA residence halls; intended for streaming and gaming devices; standard throughput speeds; inquire with your RA/RHD for the network credentials
- Private networks - many SVA academic departments provide their own department-specific WPA2 secured wireless network, available only on that particular department's floor or building; fast, secure network; inquire with your respective department for the wireless credentials
- SVA Library (Library East - 380 2nd Ave, 2nd Floor; Library West - 133 W21 Street, Lower Level) - the SVA Libraries have hotspots and guest accounts to assist with wireless onboarding if you do not have access to a hotspot and are already on campus, and are trying to install the secure certificate on your device via wifi.sva.edu
